Very trendy atmosphere, very fresh sushi, and inventive dishes round out to a great dining experience. I love the options of Thai or Japanese food- interesting combinations! We got some sushi apps, and then a whole Thai style fish for a main meal. Great dining option in Hilton Head.

Stopped in for lunch. Very nice lunch menu, good bento box, miso soup. Tried the shrimp tempura roll, nice, but I would have liked less cold ingredients, personal preference for hot rolls, but it was quite tasty. There was a mix up on my order, asked for shrimp tempura, not shrimp tempura roll, but it was a good lunch. Okko has a great modern feel, one of the nicer places on the island to eat or just stop in for a drink.

This wonderful restaurant has something for everyone. The food is fresh, healthy and delicious. We especially love the avocado salad. Don't miss it! Their playing is always stunningly beautiful. The bar is a very comfortable place to get a taste of the local patrons and feel more than included. Very friendly.

Sushi lovers rejoice!!! The golden palace of the Himalayas lies in HHI and it's name is OKKO. I thought the atmosphere was great, we walked right in not needing a reservation and sat in a dimly lit but well decorated place. The service was attentive and very accommodating. I have a picky 4 year old that doesn't eat sushi, yet, and we brought in a slice of pizza from another establishment and they didn't mind. I started out with fresh basil rolls and the token edamame. I then ventured on to the Big Mac and Paradise sushi which were the most expensive rolls on the menu cause that's how I represent. Both were enormous and 2 of the best rolls I've eaten. So much that I couldn't finish them which is unlike me. I liked how they sliced the cucumber thinly vs. making then chunks like other sushi places. On an island with a lot of choices, OKKO is top notch.

Great place! I had the Hunan chicken, pirate roll and pot stickers all were excellent. Steve the bartender was nice and very entertaining. Atmosphere were nice.

My wife and I visited Okko for the first time for lunch today. I had the Pad Thai and she had the Pineapple Rice. On the way out, we both commented that this was the best meal of our week-long stay.

Had a great hibachi meal at Okko tonight on a family vacation. We ordered combination meals (chicken, shrimp, steak) as well as an Angry Dragon sushi roll as an appetizer. Sushi was delicious. The vegetables were varied and plentiful, the rice was great, and the meat was perfect. If you like hibachi you'll love this place. Prices are reasonable. Our chef was funny, entertaining, and made a delicious dinner! The only thing we noticed that could use a little attention is that the chairs were a little worn and peeling on the backs. But everything else was great.

Delicious, fresh and a visual treat too. Been there twice and enjoyed it very much both times. Try the Big Mac roll and the Cowboy Roll. The service is great and the decor is nice too.

Best Japanese restaurant around! Must get the Cowboy Roll. Pad Thai is delicious. Must go to in Hilton Head.

Yummy hibachi. Better than avg hibachi chef great entertainment. Nice restaurant. Sushi was excellent. Salad and soup standard. Fried rice good. Tons of food. Very good hibachi though nothing super extra ordinary. Recommend for those who like hibachi. Won't disappoint. Definitely enjoyed.

Awesome place. Restaurant was beautiful and food was crazy good. They have a sashimi platter that was superb. And their spicy tuna was to die for.

Amazing!!!! If your a sushi lover, this is the place to be! The service was great. Presentation of the food was beautiful! There was hardly a wait and it was such a relaxing atmosphere. Now, the taste of the sushi is outta control! The wasabi was the best I've had! Will go back!

Chic sushi location in the middle of the strip mall. They make amazing sushi rolls and the service is attentive. Curious though, I had to ask for hot water three times for my green tea. They must've been running tap water because the water was lukewarm every single time. Make a reservation ahead of time or find a spot at the sushi bar for dinner. The place gets busy!

Visiting the island and ventured off the resort to find sushi for lunch. I'm so glad we chose Okko. The ginger dressing was amazing. Much different than what you normally get, and the best we've tried. The sushi was very good. We got three rolls: angry dragon, rainbow and tiger. All three of them were amazing. I even got to sit next to the wall of wine. It made me sad I'm not a day drinker.

Wonderful food and ambience! I had the tuna tower app and okko roll and the hubby had pad Thai, everything was great! We liked the vibe of the trendy decor and lighting too. Reservations are needed!

Good food and decent entertainment. Service was a little slow, we did the hibachi table and it took about 45 minutes from when we sat down to when the chef started cooking.

First time at Okko. It was a late night dinner, and there were only about three other tables in the house; so we got our food fairly fast. The food was very tasty, and the portions were more than filling. It has a "Sex And The City", trendy feel.

Asian food at its finest! It doesn't matter what you're in the mood for because they seem to have it all. My husband, who is Chinese and can be very critical, loved his Mongolian Beef dish. I am a Pad Thai junkie, so I ordered chicken Pad Thai and believe it is as good as any I've ever eaten. We shared the Cowboy Roll for an appetizer and absolutely loved the unique flavor combinations & textures in this sushi roll (avocado, tuna and wrapped in rice, with medium filet mignon on top, which is topped with eel sauce & creamy wasabi sauce). The atmosphere is classy and trendy; our server was attentive & provided good suggestions (he was the reason we ordered sushi). I highly recommend this restaurant!

Went with my fiance after we had tried a different sushi place in the area last week. I come from a city with MANY sushi restaurants, about seven of which I have worked at myself. This place, by far, had the best, freshest tasting sushi and sashimi I have ever had. Freshest uni and octopus I have ever tasted. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in the area. My only stipulation is that a few rolls were made differently than is tradition. For example, a Philadelphia roll should contain smoked salmon, cream cheese and cucumber. They swapped out the cucumber for avocado. Definitely changes the taste and texture. I wish they would have stuck with the known way of making it.

  • Kait S.

Delicious food, great service, and beautiful presentation (the sushi combo for two was STUNNING). Edamame was perfect. Seaweed salad was lacking. Veggie sushi roll was par for course but the special rolls were both inventive and quite tasty according to my dining partners. Good drink list too.

First time in South Carolina and was looking for a place for supper. Wonderful food, fun atmosphere, and very kid friendly. Prices are reasonable too! Definitely will be making this a regular restaurant to go when we're down again!

By far one of the prettiest restaurants on Hilton Head. When you're inside, and you'd never believe you're in a very run down strip mall near a Sam's club, and a very old Bi-Lo grocery store. you'll also forget you're on Hilton Head, and could believe you're in a restaurant somewhere in the big city. The food is just as good too! We sampled different rolls and sashimi... all of it fresh and presented very beautifully. I will be back here for sushi again & again. If you want what I'd say is the best sushi on the island, then I say you must visit Okko. If your food comes out as nicely as ours did... you will not be disappointed, and you'll not go yo any other sushi house in the area.

Does not look like much from the outside, but it's well worth the trip. The interior is reminiscent of a Miami beach luxury establishment. The food there is exquisite and the staff is very friendly.

Ok, I wanted to hate this place. When we called, the clueless, rude girl on the other end took forever to say, "yeah, sure come by in 30 minutes." Then, when we arrived that same foggy-brained girl had trouble finding us a table. The barman looked totally perturbed that we ordered two southern ice teas instead of cosmopolitans with speciality vodkas. The place just had that Don Johnson/Miami Vice vibe which at times drives me bonkers. ....however, the food was amazing. We ordered gyoza as an appetizer and they were perfectly prepared. My daughter had some very fancy and delicious sushi--she's quite a connoisseur. I had simple fried rice with pork and it was delectable. If you can deal with the dopey greeter, the grumpy (sometimes funny) barman and a bit of an organizational nightmare, the chefs here have talent--for sure.

Go here!! Delicious rolls and strong drinks, can't ask for more especially while on a beach vacation with your family and trying to satisfy a craving for sushi. Service a bit slow but you can't ask for better sushi :)

Much better then Beni Hana. The service was great and the food was excellent. The fried rice and scallops were fantastic. We all had a great time. The portions were large - you will not leave hungry. We will be back.

I was there with my family yesterday. Very dissatisfied with the experience. Hostes was rude, made it a point tell us that we will be only seated at the exact reservation time. but we were not seated 25 min after the reservation time. She was concerned more about closing front door so that she can stay warm than greeting and helping incoming guests. Hibachi chef arrived 1 hour 10 min after we were seated. It was quite hard with young children. And not giving them dinner 10 pm into the night. I talked to the manager on site; he was decent, but problem comes down to they only have two hibachi chefs even on busy night. But they are scheduling lot more than two can handle. I will not go back; will find an alternate.

Food is consistently great. Service wonderful and fabulous atmosphere. Just think the hostess could dress more professionally. Short shorts and gladiator sandals did not quite portray the right "look" when waiters & waitresses are in black with ties!

Hit and miss. Solid 4 stars with definite potential for more. There for dinner on a Wednesday night without reservations but they were able to accommodate. Decor and ambience was nice. I have no idea how sushi is on the rest of the island but this was pretty good overall. Friend had the octopus salad and miso soup. Salad was good, nice chew on the octopus, not too rubbery. Now, I grew up eating seaweed but the soup was almost inedible. That is saying something because I have low standards for eating. It had an extremely seaweed-y taste and I mean that in a bad way. Plus it wasn't seasoned well enough. It was the worst thing we had that night. Unless something changes, avoid this. I also ordered the toro for ~$10. This was the second worst thing. Honestly, I'm not sure if what I ate was actually toro. It's possible there was a mixup in the order because it really didn't taste like it. Furthermore, it had a slightly fishy taste. If there's not a heavy demand for the toro then I could see how this would happen. Don't waste your money on this. I ordered the live scallop but unfortunately it was not available. I got the regular scallop sashimi and it was pretty good. Unless there is good turnover of the scallop, this too can have a very fishy flavor but it was good. If you have never tried sashimi scallop, do it! Not anything like you would expect. I also got the salmon, angry bird roll and spicy tuna hand roll, all good as well. Also got the shrimp red curry. Hey, I was hungry and part of this was expensed! I really liked the red curry also, not too spicy, good shrimp, flavorful curry, tasty. Overall, this place is pretty good with a couple of items to be weary of. Will definitely check it out again if I'm in the area and I think you should do the same. Oh yeah, service was excellent too. Our server Kristan was very helpful. My friend was asking for all sorts of wrap alternatives to seaweed like cucumber and a rice wrap. I think the cucumber wrap was like an extra $8 which is crazy and Kristan agreed. She was actually able to get the up charge cut in half (and we did not ask for this) so props to her! She was very attentive and friendly so that made the evening even nicer.

Our first night in HH, we were looking for somewhere open late. Checked reviews and Okku seemed to fit the bill for what we were looking for. Great interior, very trendy. Service was just okay, she could have checked in a bit more and we waited for bill for quite some time. I ordered seseme shrimp, she brought chicken instead, I told her it would be fine. She seemed happy I replied that way.All and all we were one of the last groups to dine that night, and felt a bit neglected. The rolls were fantastic. We had Kamikaze roll and Super Tuna. Both were overly stuffed in a good way...fish to rice ratio was fantastic. Boyfriend ordered the tuna hand roll and unagi which he seemed to enjoy. I had seseme chicken, which as mentioned should have been shrimp. It was good, but I would probably skip next time and stick to rolls, and sushi.

By far the best I've been to in recent memory. Our chef was excellent the food was tremendous and he was very entertaining. We have several similar style places back in Pittsburgh but the all around experience here at Okko was hands down the best. Only warning would be the chairs, don't be scared about the worn out chairs, it's worth it

Hands down the best sushi. Every time we come to Hilton Head we make it a point to come here for one meal. The ambience inside is fabulous too. They also have a hibachi area. If your a big sushi fan, come here.

Had a delicious late dinner at Okko. Ambiance is modern and hip with a sleek bar and a sleek sushi bar, and a hibachi grill. We had the Hot and Sour soup, edamame and avocado salad. All really good. My wife and I also split the seared tuna appetizer and shrimp tempura roll.

Stopped in for lunch, and loved every bite. We started with gyoza and chicken satay, and both were absolutely perfect, and at our table within 10 minutes of ordering. My husband ordered lo mein and a California roll, and I ordered a tuna roll, yellowtail scallion roll, a perfect naruto roll and an OKKO roll. All were delicious and fresh and perfectly prepared. The service was fast and friendly, the ambience and interior were beautiful and the hot sake was delish. No regrets about this lunch date!

Stopped by on a whim as my flight was delayed - Yelp had it highly rated and close by to the airport. In a word, delicious. Get reservations for a table, but what a hidden gem for a strip mall. Sat at the bar and ordered the Toro tuna sashimi, Tiger roll and Tuna Amazing roll. AND you can order online and pick up to go... Will definitely be back.

Nothing short of fabulous! We first came on Memorial Day for dinner and the place was packed and we had to resort to another restaurant in the area, but we returned the next night. The cook was wonderful and the service great. Excellent sushi as well. Hibachi couldn't have been better. The place is very modern with unique lighting. If you visit HHI make sure this place is on your to do list.

This is my favorite place to get Japanese food and one of my favorite restaurants in general! The food is absolutely to die for and their yum yum sauce is the best I've ever had. It's a little pricey but it's overall a classy place. I always get hibachi and it's amazing!

By far the best sushi spot in the Hilton Head area. Excellent service, choices, drink menu is super. Their sake list is second to none. From the seaweed salad which was crisp, cold with just right sesame notes to the tender semi-sweet octopus, a must if you are in the area. Besides it's a gorgeous restaurant with the hibachi tables in another room.

Another fabulous meal at OKKO. They do authentic, hip asian fusion. The vibe is very Hong Kong. The food is fresh and hand prepared. My Dad had a variety of sashimi. Mom had a California roll. I had Thai mango shrimp. All were yummy and pleasing to the eye. Big kudos to the kitchen. I gave four stars because the place is busy and the wait staff is a bit overwhelmed. Make a reservation.

I'm very skeptical when I eat at an Asian restaurant and the menu contains a mix of Asian cuisines. It typically turns out that everything is mediocre at best. Thankfully that wasn't the case with Okko. Started with crab rangoons, seaweed salad and miso soup. All were good. Then ordered some sashimi and a few rolls. First, everything was very fresh. Second, the portions were generous. Sashimi was nice and thick. Ginger wasn't nuclear pink. Rolls were hearty and not heavy on the rice to be a filler. Ambiance was cozy, felt like I was at a W Hotel. Service was friendly and quick. Will be back for more.

This is good place but there is room for improvement. I went early dinner 5pm. The restaurant was basically empty. I got seated immediately. They took extra time trying to figure out who was going to serve. It was no biggy as I am in no hurry. The waiter seem slightly perturbed and apologies twice Started with a small hot sake. I like cheap hot sake. I order smalls so they don't get too cold. I love the vapors. The Tom Yum Goong is basically hot sour soup with lemon grass. I guess it is an odd serving at a sushi restaurant. Hmm sweet and sour is on the menu. I asked the waiter but he has never had real Tom Yum. Octopus salad is tasty with a nice portion. My favorite is when they come on a bed of seaweed. This comes on top of sliced cucumber. The okko seabass sushi is grilled sea bass wrapped in spicy king crab with fresh jalapeno served with a ponzu sauce. It is outstanding. Ordered spicy scallop hand roll and got a roll. I didn't complain. It was okay. Salmon and yellowtail sashimi and mackerel sushi quality was a 3.5 or higher but less than a 4.

Don't order the Thai food. Stick to Japanese. Our pad Thai was so sweet and the chicken was chewy. The waitress took off after we requested to get something else and we didn't see her again. The rolls were delicious.

Another great experience at Okko. Been here several times while on business in Hilton Head and this place is always spot on. Atmosphere is contemporary/urban and presentation is very artful. The prices are not necessarily cheap but neither is the quality. If you are looking for a nice, upscale Asian restaurant I highly suggest you give this place a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Absolutely lovely place. Food was amazing. Sushi was delicious. Only thing we can point out is the waiter was less than attentive... After we got the water and ordered he was no where to be seen. We both wanted to order a glass of sake, but he never came back! Hibachi chefs are hilarious and really put on a real show!

Probably 1 if the Swankiest Asian restaurants in the country, but the good thing is its Hilton Head so you can go casual and wear shorts if you want. It is located in your typical suburban shopping plaza but once you step inside its like a whole new world. Enough of the intro on to the review. I'm just going to break it down into areas I find important and rate them on a scale of 0 - 10. Decor - 9/10. Modern look with mixed materials: wooden walls, suede booths, white chairs, amazing wine rack display, nice dim sports bar and lit up sushi bar where you can see your sushi being prepared. Almost looks like a small Vegas night club. Maybe could add more seating. Ambience - 8/10. Again very hip feel, mostly young people, couples. We took a 6 year old but he fell asleep right away didnt see any high chairs. A little on the loud side and pretty dark so a Lil tough to take foodie pics. Value - 6.5/10. Prices are on the $$ side compared to most Asian restaurants but our total wasn't too bad 11 dishes for about $146. Portions are slightly on the small side but itbis Hilton Head so your options for Authentic Asian food are limited. Service - 6/10. Gonna break this into a few sections. We didn't have reservations and walked in at 9pm, only had to wait 10 mins for a party of 5. Our waiter Indonesian Joe was extremely nice but seemed very busy so we saw him every 15 mins or so. Food waiting time is where OKKO loses some points. Appetizers took about 20 mins, entrees took about 40 mins from order time. Total restaurant time 2 hours. FOOD - 7/10. House special soup was nothing special similar to what you'd find at any Chinese restaurant(6/10). Calamari appetizer was cut onion ring style. Batter was too crunchy and the calamari slightly chewy. 5.5/10 Pan fried pork dumplings were nice. Slight crisp moist pork on the inside. 7.5/10 OKKO platter - 6.8/10. BBQ ribs and beef sticks had good flavor but the meats were a bit tough. Wings were excellent good fry, light batter. General Tso - 7.3/10. On first bite I wasn't impressed but these sweet crispy morsels grew in me. Chicken Pad Thai - 6.5/10. A bit too much spice a little lighy on the sauce and amount of chicken. Portion was also on the smaller side. Drunken Noodle with Beef - 8.5/10. Beautiful dish that is a bit greasy but the good kind of greasy like hamburger grease or the fat on a ribeye steak. Definitely comfort food also tastes nearly identical to Chinese Beef Chow Fun. Chilean Sea Bass - 9/10. the best dish of the night. Have to admit sea bass is my favorite fish , I order it whenever I see it on a menu. It had a nice fried crunch on the outside with that melt in your mouth buttery soft flaky meat on the inside topped with an Sweet Asian Soy ginger sauce. A real Classic. Overall 7.5/10. A must see for the decor and the sea bass. Wasn't in the mood for sushi but it looked delicious and they had over 30 maybe 40 different rolls. Will have to comeback and try more items out.

This is a modern Japanese/Thai restaurant. I went during lunch. They have a good, diverse lunch menu. I had the teriyaki chicken box, which was tons of food. The thai curry looked delicious too. The service was good.

Want to give it four stars, but the service really knocked it down a bit. By no means was our waiter disappointing, he did a good job. It was the fact that we had 7:00 reservations and weren't seated until 7:17. It was the fact that three times different waiters asked us if we were being helped. Just not something any worthy restaurant would allow to happen. It's not rocket science, figure it out. Onto the food: it was good. There is really no place in Hilton head that does sushi as well as Okko does. The tempura appetizer I had was very good, perfectly done. I also had the sashimi deluxe. The fish tasted fresh, the serving size was good for the price, and the variety of fish was also pleasing. Many of my table mates had options from the Thai menu and most seemed to enjoy it. We will definitely be back a second time. I'm looking forward to giving them another star, but not right now. The atmosphere was impressive, probably the hippest place on the island. I'm also a big fan of how they divided the hibachi section from the dining area with doors to help keep the noise level down. Very smart. Impressive bar, good food, I'll be back.

I recommend for sushi as they have a huge selection of specialty rolls and the fish is fresh! the pirate roll and the okko appetizer platter (esp if you like fried food) was delish. food service was a little slow which was a bit of a bummer but the staff are friendly.

OMG. My wife and I waiting around an hour tonight for a Hibachi Dinner at this highly recommended Japanese restaurant. My wife notice a gigantic roach crawling on the side of grill in which our meal was going to be cooked on and brought it to my attention. I immediately notified the waiter who in turn notified the manager. He apologize and asked if we would like to be seated in the dining area but we politely declined. If one roach is brave enough to show itself with that amount of people around, I can just imagine what's going on when the lights are off and everyone is gone. I just couldn't do it.

Can't wait to visit the area again. It's at the top of my list. Let me check with the guys what date is that Golf Tournament again? Very good and fresh dishes. Enjoyed the modern place. The cook just outstanding. The only difficulty we had was finding the place. Google maps and Yelp are giving wrong directions if anyone can look into that. Other than that the whole group of 8 people left this place very satisfied.

The hibachi chef did a great job! He did tricks we had never seen before. My kids loved it!!! The food was delicious, although we agreed there was a little too much sauce on everything. The ambiance was fantastic. The sushi was superb. We definitely recommend Okko.

PROs: Almost five stars, they were so close! Their food was a solid 5 stars it was the hostess that brought them down a notch. My spouse and I chose this place as a date night while the grandparents watched the kids. We were hesitant at first going to a place that looked this nice in the pictures and takes reservations when all we had were jeans and a sun dress. Upon arriving we were set at ease, we were over dressed compared to some others. We both had sushi and the best crab rangoons we've ever had. Everything on the menu looked delicious, but we went here for the sushi. CONs: We arrived at 6:30 for a 7 o'clock reservation and they could not seat us. I completely understand so we stood around for 30 minutes in 90 degree heat. We were promptly seated at 7 but upon entering they had a huge COMPLETELY EMPTY bar that stayed empty for the hour+ we were there! Who knew? We could have sat at the bar for 30 minutes while we waited on our table! They would have squeezed another 30 bucks out of us. I guess it is there loss and I chalk it up to a new hostess and the fact I didn't realize they had a really nice bar. Ugh! So close! You can't see the bar unless you round the corner, and it doesn't say bar on any literature, but it so beautiful! Want to know why you alcohol sales are low? It's because people don't know! Me and the girls would have come here earlier in the week if we knew, quit hiding it and let people know! The purpose of the bar isn't to make drinks for the dining room! It's a bar And probably the nicest, most inviting one I've ever seen! Again ugh!

As good as or better than any place on the island, we eat here often. The decor, atmosphere, service and food are all outstanding. And Steve, the bartender, is definitely the best on the island. I highly recommend OKKO's for visitors and locals alike.

A change of plans sent us to Okko, and we were more than happy to have made the switch. We had a large party, and were seated well before the wait time they have us when we walked in. The food was excellent. We had a pretty good sampling of the different menu options, and everything was incredible. The curries and Hibachi meals pleased everyone. Our service was also great, and accommodating. We will definitely be coming back!

Service was bad, food took very long time, they got our order wrong and was not very good about trying to make us happy. I even spoke with the manager and they did not try to make things better. We will not be going back.

My wife, 9 month old daughter, and I were down for the week and looking for a good sushi restaurant. We ended up eating at Okko twice- our first night was so enjoyable we decided to return. The food and service were excellent on both occasions. Their menu offers an extensive selection for sushi and non-sushi lovers alike. My wife (the sushi lover) had two excellent rolls while I (the non-sushi lover) enjoyed the hibachi selections. The atmosphere was laid back, but the service was on point. I highly recommend Okko and look forward to going again the next time my family and I are back visiting.

Dined at Okko last night with my family. They have visited this establishment several times and raved about the sushi. I ordered the fried pork gyoza (good), imperial lobster roll (special roll that evening- good) and drunken noodle beef (to go). My sister ordered the Angry Dragon roll and salmon sashimi - photo attached. Other dishes ordered were Happy Family, Tom yum soup and yellow tail jalapeño app. The yellow tail jalapeño was excellent! Ponzu sauce was tasty and jalapeño was sliced super thin with a wide variety of sizes so you could adjust the heat. I highly recommend this app. Gyoza was crispy and tasty and pretty standard but satisfying if you're looking for a gyoza fix. Angry dragon and salmon sashimi was extremely fresh. Lobster Imperial was good but be prepared for a large prawn head to be prominently displayed on the plate. Happy family was good but lacked that special something I can't put my finger on. We ordered the drunken noodle to take home which was not true drunken noodle. It did not include the inch wide rice noodle but rather thin fettucini. They need to fix this. As far as service, I am only giving 3 stars. The server placed my order for imperial lobster roll incorrectly and I didn't receive it until everyone else was almost done eating. I also found that my water glass was more empty than full. When they did come to fill the water glasses, the pitcher only held enough water to fully fill two of the four glasses on the table. Then they wouldn't come back to fill the other two. Sounds silly but it was irritating. I will definitely return but stick to sushi.

We were going to go to another Hibachi restaurant but decided to go here after reading the reviews of both places. We called and asked if they could accommodate at 7:30 and the hostess said 8:00. We got there and found out we would be sitting on the edge BEHIND the chef and we refused. The owner explained that the other chef went homework

Good food but I give it 2 stars because of my experience there. We were initially seated at a table next to two clearly inebriated couples. They were creating a massive racket. I have been to quieter Waffle Houses on college campuses on a party night. The staff were doing nothing to get them to be quieter. We asked to be re-seated and then ended up near kids who were running around all over the place and adding to the general chaos. Kids can be understandably boisterous but I did not expect this in a place with a little upscale decor and ambience. Would not recommend a visit unless you are really craving some sushi.

This is one of the best Asian fusion restaurants that I have seen. We went there for my nieces 16 birthday and we are at the hibachi area . Our chef was skilled and very entertaining . Dinner lasted for about an hour and a half and the food was prepared to our liking with big portions. Kids will be thoroughly entertained for the entire meal. The other section of the restaurant is a polar opposite - upscale , modern, and quiet - with a sushi bar . They serve Thai food as well. This a really cool place to take the family or enjoy a quiet romantic meal for two, depending on which section of Okkos suits your fancy!

Enjoyed the jalapeno shrimp, Golden Dream and larb gai. Bustling and hip on this Friday in April. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Probably the best Asian on the island, but not much competition.

A hidden gem. Very nice place tucked away in a very average location. We happened in for lunch today and surprisingly they offer a great selection for a gluten free diet. They can make most every menu item without gluten (except tempuras). The food we had was very delicious. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. The pad Thai I ordered was a perfect lunch portion. It was a sensational blend of seasoning and flavor. The hibachi is their specialty, my wife had a vegetable hibachi that had tofu and came with a fried rice, excellent, not an ounce was wasted. Refreshing.

We had a great time tonight at Okko. We ate at one of the Hibachi tables and our chef was named, "Tommy." He was great fun and sang to us, set fire to various items, and all while cooking a great meal. We loved it. I had the sea bass, which was excellent. Tommy had us catching food thrown from his side of the grill, taking shots of saki, and for the kids, shots of sprite. I also should add that the decor in this restaurant is beautiful. The restaurant would fit in nicely with any restaurant in Las Vegas.

This was our first time at OKKO - we found it while walking around the shopping center. It is very high level Japanese modern....cool setting and incredible food. Would go back...over and over.

The restaurant design is really pretty n the food is really good too. I personally really like the "lychee saketini" but my friend did not like the "raspberry saketini". The only problem I had was the temperature. it was too cold! I talked to the server n asked him to lower the AC and he pretended that he did but he did not. After the boss or the manager saw I was cold he changed temperature and also apologize. Over all I really like the restaurant. lastly, I forgot my wallet n the another server brought it out to me!

We literally just walked in the condo from eating here. I had to leave this review. It's really hard to rate a Hibachi restaurant because it's all so much the same. However, Okko stood out, for the better. First off, it's a beautiful storefront and even more beautiful atmosphere inside. GREAT sake collection, and very trendy decor. My wife was pleased. Me too. This isn't your down and dirty hibachi. This is higher class. We sat at a hibachi table and my kids and I ordered hibachi. My wife ordered sushi. Which, by the way, she said after, "This was the best roll she ever had." The cowboy roll with the jalepeno on top. Our food was equally as good, but as in most places the hibachi food is all the same. But our entertainment was wonderful. Above and beyond most chefs. We had a great time and enjoyed the food greatly. I HIGHLY recommend this place. In fact, we're already planning a take out sushi lunch order for later this week before we go. If we lived near here we'd eat here constantly. However, it's a tad bit higher priced than most. But worth it.

Had a sampling of appetizers, sushi, and fried rice. Service was very good. Although I don't usually eat sushi, I did try the cowboy roll-delicious! Fried rice was very good. Crab Rangoon had chunks of crab and the sauce was delicious. The edamame was also delicious!

this place is pretty good but their sushi isn't anything special. I got a spicy tuna roll and the shrimp massaman. The shrimp massaman was really good. The spicy tuna roll had too much rice on it that you couldn't really taste the spicy tuna. I will say this: this place has a really cool atmosphere.

When we walked in, the chic decor made us a little nervous that it might not be a good fit for us: Mom, Dad, and boys aged 7 and 9. But i was totally wrong. They made us feel very welcome. The chef kept my boys laughing and we had an absolute blast! The food was excellent, as well. We'll be back next time we're in town. Apparently, they're packed on the weekends, but on a Tuesday night in March, we had the hibachi part of the restaurant to ourselves for an early dinner. (By the time we left, the place was hopping)

The lobster dragon roll is delish! We made reservations on a Saturday night, which I highly advise. The fat bartender was walking by the entrance and yelled at us to close the door as we came in. I yelled back at him that there were still people coming in- literally walking through the door. We came at 6 and they immediately dimmed the lights way too much. We had to use our cell phone flashlights to see the menu. We sat for more than 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. It was not busy at the time. Alesha was our waitress and she was fine after she got there. The food was good, but the lights are too dim and the fat guy needs to keep his mouth shut

Best hibachi we've ever been to. Wasn't expecting much after arriving as it's in a strip mall. But the ambiance and the decor of the restaurant were classy and refined. The food was as good as any we've had at a hibachi restaurant, inc. the shrimp, scallops, filet, and steak. But best of all was the chef named Tony (Indonesian dude) who was a true entertainer who knew what he was doing and engaged the kids at our table in a way that they'll remember for a long time. Will be an annual tradition for us for years to come.

We ordered sushi take-out from Okko while on vacation in Hilton Head with friends. We placed about a $200 sushi order and enjoyed almost every bit of it! The specialty rolls were delicious and beautifully prepared while the California rolls that the kids ordered were "so-so" compared to the ones we get at home in Michigan. The one down-side was the seafood soup one of us ordered...there were tentacles and all sorts of odd-looking seafood pieces in each spoonful. Needless to say, that went uneaten... Overall, good food for the money and a nice take-out option for vacationers.

Absolutely amazing. We had hibachi which was great. Victor was great. We couldn't leave so we sat at the bar with Olivia and Steven. Great samurai showdown drink. We wil come back to this place every chance we get. Love it.

We went to Okko last week while on vacation in Hilton Head. We were a large table of nine and sat at the hibachi table. Our chef came out and it appeared he was new, as his show was not very polished. I should say however we heard cheers and applause from the table on the other side of the room and it appeared their chef was amazing. I guess we pulled the short straw. Anyway, on to the food. We ordered the chicken, steak and shrimp combo. The steak and shrimp were tasty but the chicken was hard, dry and bland. We were also very disappointed with the fried rice. Excellent fried rice is usually a staple of a good hibachi restaurant so this really surprised us. We ordered one of their specialty tuna rolls as an appetizer and it was delicious. I would definitely return for more sushi. It is also a great place for kids. I would return in the hopes that the performance and the rice improves. Fingers crossed Okko.

Our only big complaint was the 1 hour wait after our reservation time. Extremely frustrating with the toddler. We had the Devil Roll; a tempura fried roll with several fish. It was a bit disappointing. There was too much going on preventing anything from standing out. Yuki had a seaweed salad which was very good. Cold unfiltered sake was excellent. The Hibachi chef was very entertaining and provided a nice show. The meal itself was good. Nothing really stands out as a high or low for this meal. Our dining companion were local and noted that this was the best Asian restaurant on the island. We are not able to compare with any other local Asian restaurants but we can recommend this as a good meal.

This place STINKS. Beautiful decor, but the place smelled like expired fish. My friend and I ordered both sushi and thai dishes off their lunch menu, the eel roll had a hint of fresh fish in them. The thai basil shrimp I ordered was rotten. The sauce was great but the shrimp were ALL rotten. I felt like they treated us like dumb tourists. I will NEVER set foot in this place again.

This place was delicious!! Way better than the other Japanese places we've been to here... Our cook "Tommy" was wonderful! He was so talkative.. We took our 18 month old & he made him scrambled eggs without us having to ask. He gave him rice & veggies... Which we didn't order for him. He was so interactive & fun! We will be back next time we visit!!

Great place to eat, very happy that I chose to try them out! I had the Okko player and the Triple Delight, very nice. The only complaint I have is that the Miso soup was to salty, but the rest of the meal was so good, it made up for it. I will mark this place down as a place to eat in the future. ..

Stumbled upon this restaurant via Yelp and what a great find!! We love sushi and I'm celiac which often makes things difficult. They were so accommodating and the food was EXCELLENT! We will definitely return! Don't be scared by being in a strip mall.

Waited for over 45 minutes, and was not even able to eat there. The customer service is the worst, people were coming in without reservation and seating before us. They did not even take into consideration the fact that I had a toddler. Cannot rate the food, but after this experience I don't want to.

We just had the best hibachi experience ever. Our chef was amazing. The food was great. He took my wife's food allergies seriously. We had the Big Mac tool and the cowboy roll.... Wow One of the few places that I've been that is worth every penny.

What an amazing meal! The only spots they had left were at the sushi bar so we sat there. I was worried what service would be like sitting there, but that thought was gone within 1 minute of sitting down. Our drink & appetizer order was taken almost immediately. I ordered smoked salmon sashimi & a raw scallop plate. Both were amazing. They only get 5 or 6 of these large fresh scallops a week. This was another benefit of sitting at the sushi bar because I would have not known about it otherwise. My wife started with the angry bird roll which was great as well. Then we ordered the Ranger Rover roll & the Transformer roll. They were both amazing! The food was so good we ordered 2 more rolls to go. The service was top notch to go with the amazing food. We will definitely be back here again. If you enjoy sushi you need to check this place out!

Love this place! We had three sushi rolls-the volcano, the watchman roll & and one other (can't remember the name). They were all amazing!!! We also had the basil rolls with peanut sauce and they were good but not the best. Stick sushi & you'll be happy! No late night specials like they had advertised somewhere but that was ok. From 4-6 they do have a happy hour for food and drinks. Great atmosphere & worth a visit.

Amazing!! It's like stepping into the sexiest sushi bar in NY or Chicago! The decor, music and food is out of his world! Sushi lovers try the Angry Bird roll, Crazy tuna roll, Tiger roll and the Cowboy roll!! GO!! I promise this foodie from Chicago would not steer you wrong! WOW!

I was craving sushi and my aunt said "Okko is where to go" - she was correct. I've been a sushi lover since the early '90's so I know what's good and this place is good. I had a spicy tuna roll and shrimp tempura roll both of which had a good rice to fish ratio (something I've found to be hard to find down here.) I also liked the plating. Aside from the sushi, 3 other people in my party had the hibachi (though we didn't sit in the hibachi part of the restaurant) and their food was good, too. Our server was very friendly and attentive and the wine list was great. The space is dark but sleek and comfortable. I will be back!

My wife and I visited hilton head over the weekend and wanted some Asian for lunch. My wife is Chinese and for her to say the food is good is a real treat. The rangoons were awesome and the chicken and shrimp hibachi was awesome as well. We will be back next time where in town

Could not be worse. Interior looks quite nice, but it ends there. Sushi roll aren't real sushi, lots of tempura with rich sauces on top. Hibachi is the typical cheesy Benihana that leaves you with a stomach ache from all the sodium they ladle into the grilled food. The service is abysmal. Seem to always have new staff and the only thing consistent about each new crew is their inability to deliver food in a timely manner. My sushi entree came after the entire hibachi cooking show was complete and kids done eating. My girlfriend's NEVER came. When I finally had to hunt down a manager just to get our check so we could leave, he was gracious enough to say that he would take her order off the bill. REALLY????? Not looking for anything free but they rang us up for EVERY item ordered after delivering two dinners 15 minutes after 5 others had eaten (over one hour after ordered) and never delivering dinner to the kid's mom. The punch line for spending over $200 on dinner was that this morning they are trying to put another $135 on my AMX card. OKKO, you service has always been poor and your food has never been good. Good luck to you.

OKKO is a beautiful restaurant. The Hibachi chefs are entertaining, skilled, and pleasant. The food is tasty, but service on our visit was horrible. Water glasses were not filled, hot tea was not hot, and it took 2 1/2 hours for a simple meal. They have no concept of how to serve wine, and the server did not listen very well. We said three times that we were looking for a quick meal, and she kept telling us she was spacing things out so we would not feel rushed. Tea pots were "lost" as she tried to explain why she had not returned with hot tea for 30 minutes. Our server kept blaming others on the staff for every misstep. Food was good, but the service was so bad that we will not return.

First time at Okko, really enjoyed the atmosphere and the decoration of the restaurant. Sat in the dinning area, so no idea about the hibachi area. Tables were modern with very comfortable seating, right across from the sushi bar. Food was served hot and timely. Wait staff were very attentive and the manager offered a suggestion on my order. good choice. Ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with basil sauce, served Panko style, not greasy, over edamame and steamed broccoli. Had a nice spice, not too hot but with a hint of heat. We were able to order from the hibachi menu, good steak and rice. Only problem we had was an order was mixed up, instead of seafood medley my wife received triple delight. Waitress apologized and asked if this order was acceptable, my wife loved the dish even if it wasn't all seafood, so no need to reorder. I would go back again!

After trying Okko for take out on Tuesday, my family really liked the food and we decided our last dinner on HHI would be at Okko. After making a reservation for 8:15 (all times were available) we arrived at 8:08. The scene in the lobby was concerning, but since they have a big Hibachi room, we thought it may be a large party going in there as opposed to the restaurant. After being told it would be a 15 minute wait, the antics began. After hearing several irate customers blast the hostesses, we realized we were in for a long wait. As nice as the two hostesses were, they were clearly over their heads with time estimations. After 30 minutes, we were told tables would be open soon. After hearing a waiter drop the F-bomb when we was assigned another table, we gave it the 5 minute warning. At 9:00, we checked in again and there were no tables getting set so we left. Not once did the manager come over to apologize, nor were we offered a beverage let alone a comped drink at the bar as any decent restaurant would do after being more than 45 minutes behind on a reservation. Did I mention we had kids with us (teen and tween). 24 hours later, no follow-up apology call, nothing. Absolutely unacceptable. Despite the prior good food, this was a horrific dining experience. Okko needs to totally revamp the front of the house or it will kill them and the manager needs to address problems and not hide behind his hostesses.

First off, incredible atmosphere. Loved everything about the decorations, and it was a nice gem in the back of a not-so-flattering shopping center. When we arrived the took us to our hibachi table. We had to wait a little bit for our chef, and it was pretty chilly in there, BUT the wait was well worth it, because the food was incredible. The hibachi chicken and steak that I ordered were on par with greatness, as the entertainment was as well. Bravo. Will be back.

This would've been a 5 star review except enough small things piled up to make the experience a 2 star. The place is gorgeous. Modern, tasteful decor which sets the right mood and the wine list is good and the menu has great selection. Plus, they were open on Christmas day - practically the only place that is on the Island - and got there early and they got us in. Now for the small things. First, our sever was not knowledgeable at all about the wine list or the menu. He did not know that my bass dish had 2 sauces and could not therefore recommend one over the other. I chose the basil. Second, he forgot to submit my 2 year old's order so she did not get her food when we did. Third, when he delivered our dishes, he gave mine to my husband and his to me. We reminded him of the missing dinner for our daughter and after it was finally delivered he disappeared after that. Fourth, my bass was wonderfully cooked - a nice crispy coat to a moist tender fish but it was OVERSAUCED!! There entire bottom of the plate was covered in sauce which completely overwhelmed the fish and everything else on the plate. You could not escape it. And, I usually like sauce and want more. The same thing happened to my husband's dish. The salad also had WAY too much dressing making it wilt and become overpowered. Minor adjustments - hiring knowledgeable staff, remembering orders, and cutting WAY back on the sauce - would've turned this around.
